A Late-Night Walk

By: cindycream |

As I walked in the forest,

The sun in the sky sank low.

The trees trembled with fear of the dark,

So the fireflies began to glow.

As I walked in the forest,

The wind blew fast and cold.

The ground shivered and shook with frost,

So the leaves

Fashioned a blanket of gold.

As I walked in the forest,

The sleepy birds ceased to sing.

The branches needed music to dance,

So the crickets sang songs of spring.

As I walked in the forest,

The bears were counting sheep.

But their eyes wouldn’t close,

So all the wolves rose,

And howled

To lull them to sleep.

As I walked in the forest,

The ground was covered with dew.

The grass was not pleased,

And the sun heard his pleas,

So she rose

And the sky grew blue.
