Honoring Artistry at the 2024 Art Fest

On 12 June 2024, Marc Garneau CI illuminated its halls with the much anticipated second semester Arts Fest. Throughout the day, student art—from photographs and paintings to clay sculptures—was displayed around the galleria. In the evening, from 6 pm to 8:30 pm, students and parents were invited for a night of music, art, and lively performances. Organized by the MGCI Art Council, this year’s Arts Fest elevated the standard with a glamorous red carpet theme. Attendees walked along crimson pathways, capturing special moments at a shining photo booth.
As always, entry was free for students and $3 for parents and guests. The evening began with enchanting performances by the guitar class, followed by soulful duets, and beautiful musical renditions by the jazz ensemble, musical theater club, and string quartet. Halfway through the festivities, a swift 10-minute intermission allowed guests to admire the showcased student artwork and indulge in refreshments courtesy of the MGCI Culinary Club. Students actively voted for their favorite art pieces across various categories during this time. Resuming the performances after the intermission, the spotlight shifted to the esteemed teacher band featuring Ms. Brennan, Ms. Doyle, Ms. Libunao, Mr. FW, Mr. Pearce, and Mr. Larter, who captivated the audience with their performance of “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”. To conclude the evening, all performers united together for a rendition of Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida,”.
The success of Arts Fest was a testament to the meticulous planning and hard work of the Art Council, performers, and teachers in the preceding weeks. Additionally, support from the AV Crew ensured excellent backstage and lighting operations and the delectable desserts provided by the Culinary Club delighted guests throughout the event. As the school year drew to a close, Arts Fest served as a farewell to many of the graduating arts and music students, celebrating their contributions to MGCI’s vibrant cultural community.
