Few teams can boast about a flawless record, but Marc Garneau’s Senior Boys Basketball team achieved that feat this year. Mr. Hillman coached the senior team with a record of eight wins and no losses.

In the regular season, the senior team practiced two or three times per week in the gym, and played eight games in the Tier 2 South Region against schools such as Monarch Park CI and Rosedale Heights SA. They were undefeated in the eight games during the regular season and cruised to playoffs where they had a shot at the City Championship.

The team won its quarter-final against Malvern CI and semi-final game with Forest Hill Ci, but lost in the championship match against Bloor Collegiate. Grade 11 player Ismail Omar felt the team “worked together well and we’re going to win next year.” Several players on the team have been playing together since the beginning of high school, honing their basketball skills together, which players credit for their success this season.

When team Captain Frantz Isidore was asked about the overall success of the team, he said, “The whole team is good, so we can play well. I had no doubt we would succeed.” Coach Hillman felt the team had exceeded all expectations and said, “There were ups and downs in the season and many areas to improve but the kids are doing great. This is the result of four years of work. Next season we’re going to rebuild with the new Grade 11 players.” The coach plans to have the team do just as well if not better than this season.
